The incident happened on May 24 when a complaint was received at the Moti Nagar police station reporting the theft of Rs 35 lakh from the office of Dynamic Forge Company at Magnum House-2, Karampura, according to an official press statement issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police Vichitra Veer.
Before departing for a different office branch, the complainant, a Field Officer for the firm, told the police that he had locked the cash in an almirah. The accountant, who was eventually identified as the accused, was the only one in the office at the time of the occurrence.

The squad made progress on May 26 when a covert informant alerted them to the accused’s whereabouts at the Manglam Hotel in Azamgarh.
Hotel personnel verified that one of the rooms was occupied by a guy who fit Vivek Raj’s description. He was taken into custody by the police.
He confessed to the crime during questioning and led police to a black carry bag on the bed that had Rs 34,98,550 in cash. Independent witnesses and hotel employees were present when the recovery was completed.
The accused, Vivek Raj, also known as Sahil, is now being held by the police. He is the son of Bihari Lal and resides in Village Bhangrola, Manesar, Gurugram, Haryana.
