Shimla: In a delightful twist to Shimla’s bustling Mall Road, two majestic black yaks from Kufri have found themselves in the limelight as shooting began for the Bollywood film 'Dadi Ki Shaadi'.
This marks the first time yaks have been featured in a film sequence on the iconic pedestrian street, traditionally known for its pony shoots and heritage backdrop.
The unique scene was filmed on Monday with comedian and actor Kapil Sharma, who is playing a key role in the film. Accompanied by the two yaks, Sharma brought a wave of laughter and excitement to tourists and locals alike.
The yaks, usually seen at the Kufri tourist resort offering rides and photo ops, were specially brought in for the scene, creating quite a buzz.
Directed as a heartwarming family comedy, 'Dadi Ki Shaadi', stars Neetu Singh and introduces Riddhima Kapoor to the silver screen.

While the film celebrates the unconventional story of an elderly woman’s remarriage, the yaks unexpectedly stole the show during the Mall Road shoot.
Authorities ensured that animal welfare protocols were followed during the filming. The presence of the yaks also highlighted the growing trend of integrating Himachal’s cultural and natural icons into mainstream cinema.
Locals hope that showcasing traditional elements like the yak will boost tourism and give a fresh identity to Shimla’s already famous landscape.
With the shoot receiving divine blessings at Jakhu Temple before kickoff, 'Dadi Ki Shaadi', seems poised to not only entertain but also spotlight Shimla’s lesser-known stars — this time, on four hooves.
