The onset of the monsoon season has led to an increase in COVID-19 and dengue cases across Maharashtra, with actor Emraan Hashmi being one of the latest victims of dengue. Reports indicate that he fell ill while working on his upcoming Telugu film, OG, which features Pawan Kalyan in the lead role.
According to various media sources, medical evaluations confirmed his diagnosis. An insider revealed that Emraan began to show signs of illness during filming and was promptly advised to seek medical attention. He was shooting in Aarey Colony, Goregaon, an area notorious for its dense vegetation and high mosquito population. After experiencing symptoms typical of dengue, he underwent tests that unfortunately confirmed the illness.
Upon receiving his diagnosis, Emraan promptly informed the film's producers and ceased filming. The source noted that despite his condition, he managed the situation with poise, expressing regret over the disruption to the filming schedule. He was reassured by the team that his health was their primary concern, and they encouraged him to take the necessary time to recover.
Currently, Emraan is resting at home, and while there is no definitive timeline for his return, it is expected that he may be sidelined for about a week. Once he regains his strength, he plans to resume shooting for OG. This film marks Emraan Hashmi's debut in the Telugu film industry and is directed by Sujeeth. It also stars Priyanka Mohan and Arjun Das in significant roles. The plot revolves around a notorious gangster named Ojas Gambheera, also referred to as 'OG', who returns to Mumbai after a decade to confront another crime lord, Omi Bhau. The film's music is composed by Thaman S, and it is scheduled for release on September 25.
