has been pulled from its normal schedule ahead of Robert Sugden's return. The ITV soap is usually available to watch from 7am every day on ITVX ahead of its evening broadcast. However, Wednesday's (May 28) episode hasn't been added to the streaming service, meaning fans will have to wait a little longer to witness the drama in the Dales.
The announcement was shared on the soap's X account as they wrote: "FYI: Emmerdale will not be available to stream tomorrow (Wed 28th) at 7am on ITVX. So we'll see you all at 7.30pm on ITV1 instead, yeah? You bring the biscuits and we'll make the brews (we'll try to not spill any tea)." It is believed the dramatic change in schedule is to keep Robert Sugden's (Ryan Hawley) return a surprise for fans. In tonight's episode, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) will walk down the aisle with John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), Robert's half-brother.
But Aaron is blissfully unaware that his husband-to-be is harbouring a killer secret. But will Robert's return coincide with their big day?
Viewers will recall the on/off romance between Robert and Aaron, which kickstarted as a sordid affair in 2014.
They eventually tied the knot in 2018, but their relationship came crashing down the following year after Robert was sentenced to 14 years in prison for killing Lee Posner, the man who sexually assaulted his sister, Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins).
After being moved to a prison in the Isle of White, Robert cut all ties with Aaron and they got a divorce, leaving fans devastated.
However, six years on, it was confirmed that Ryan would be reprising the role for a brief stint.
"It's the biggest secret in soapland but Robert is returning to Emmerdale," a source told The Sun. "Ryan has a lot of respect for the show and its fans and he really wanted to give them a treat so he agreed to come back for a brief stint."
The insider continued: "It's going to be a huge surprise for fans especially the Robron fans who have missed Robert desperately since Ryan quit.
"Nothing was seen as being too extreme to keep the secret with fake names on scripts, smuggling him in and out of the studios and keeping everything very tight."
