Hyderabad: Bhoopala Mahesh, a revenue inspector at the tahsildar’s office in Musheerabad Mandal, was apprehended by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a complainant in order to issue a family member’s certificate, which is a necessary document for a number of official and legal procedures. The ACB claims that Mahesh’s original demand was Rs 1 lakh. After receiving the complaint, ACB officers set up a trap and captured the RI in exchange for Rs 25,000, which was a portion of the bribe that was requested.
An investigation is underway. In a different instance, ACB arrested an RI at the tahsildar’s office in Ibrahimpatnam Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, G. Krishna, for allegedly requesting a bribe of Rs 12 lakh from the complainant in order to process the addition of seven guntas in his father’s pattadar passbook in survey number 355 at Adibatla village. According to ACB officials, the RI’s goal was not only to ensure that the file was processed at the RDO office but also to exert influence on higher-ups at the MRO and RDO offices.
