A senior business official denied stories that speculated on Nissan’s future in India on Wednesday, saying the automaker had no intentions to leave the Indian market. On the other hand, the business intends to open 20 additional dealerships this year and launch three new vehicles in the Indian market by the beginning of 2027.
Nissan Motor India MD Saurabh Vatsa said at a virtual news conference that the business wants to sell one lakh units in both the local and foreign markets this fiscal year and has a multi-product portfolio.
“It is crucial that I dispel any rumors that Nissan is preparing to leave India, as the dilution of its stake in Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL) is a sign of that,” he said. For an unknown sum, Renault stated on March 31 of this year that it will buy partner Nissan’s 51% share in their joint venture for manufacturing in India, Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd. (RNAIPL). According to Vatsa, Nissan was in India for a very long time—roughly 60 years. It is crucial to realize that we are well established in India. Our production plans and future capacities are set up. Nothing is out of rhythm, they are all safe, and we are here to stay,” he said.
He said that the business plans to introduce a seven-seater B-segment MPV in the first quarter of 2026 and a five- and seven-seater C-SUV at the beginning of 2027. Vatsa pointed out that the firm has been bringing in new sales partners, even if he acknowledged that not many dealer parties have abandoned the brand. “At the end of the year, we hope to have 180 dealerships, and we currently have about 160 sales outlets,” he said.
Nissan announced that a government-approved CNG conversion kit would now be offered for its Magnite SUV. According to the carmaker, the whole refit would be offered for a competitively priced extra ₹74,999. According to the statement, the CNG kit fitting will be implemented nationwide in stages.
