In the second round of the French Open men's singles event, defending champion from Spain defeated Hungarian Fabian Marozsan in four sets with a scoreline of 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 at the iconic Court Philippe-Chatrier.

The 22-year-old went on to register his ninth win in a row at Roland Garros, putting himself a step closer to retaining the coveted title, and win his fifth career Grand Slam title in the process.

While Carlos Alcaraz never looked like losing the match at any stage, he did end up dropping the second set to Fabian Marozsan, giving a sniff to the Hungarian. The Spaniard won a total of 121 points in the match, including 44 winners and five aces, serving at 71% and 59% on first and second serves respectively, while the unforced errors from him were just 25 in comparison to Fabian Marozsan's 30.

It was a great match. I started playing well: Carlos Alcaraz after defeating Fabian Marozsan

After defeating Marozsan in the second round of the French Open men's singles event, he is slated to take on either Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Bosnia-Herzegovina's Damir Dzumhur in the next round. He spoke on-court about his latest performance, and said, as per BBC Sport, 'It was a great match. I started playing well. In the first set, I had really high confidence. In the second set, he started to play much better and he was really aggressive.'

'He didn't miss at all so it was a little difficult to deal with his game in the second set, but I'm really happy I stayed strong and refreshed myself. In the third set, I started to play better and better which helped me have a really good last two sets,' Alcaraz added. The Spaniard is in excellent form on the clay courts this season, and with his successes last year, many are expecting him to emerge as the winner of the French Open this season, defend his title successfully.

'Most of the time I'm not trying to think about anything else but enjoying playing and enjoying being on this court. Philippe-Chatrier is a really beautiful court so I have to enjoy it, so once I step on court I'm not thinking about anything else,' the Spaniard spoke about the center court at Roland Garros.
