The daylight robbery at Naveen Jewelers in Konch town, Jalaun district, on May 15 shook the city. Following two police encounters within 24 hours, five criminals involved in the case have been arrested, while the search for the sixth suspect continues.
On Monday night, police had an encounter with three accused, who were injured and taken to the hospital. Acting on concrete intelligence, a joint police team from Konch Kotwali, Kailiya police station, and SOG laid a trap near the canal strip between Jujharpura and Hinguta. When the absconding criminals spotted the police, they opened fire.
In the retaliatory encounter, Golu alias Ajay Kushwaha (resident of Kailiya) was injured and immediately taken into custody for medical treatment. Another accused, Ramu Kushwaha, surrendered fearing strict police action. Police recovered two pistols, cartridges, a bike, and gold and silver jewelry linked to the robbery from the spot.
SP Dr. Durgesh Kumar confirmed that six criminals have been identified, with five already in custody. Police teams are actively searching for the remaining accused. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the entire gang’s network, mastermind, and hidden loot.
The quick police action has restored a sense of security among Konch’s business community and residents after the alarming daylight robbery in this otherwise peaceful town.
