Even after more than 20 years, Kareena Kapoor Khan ’s Poo from ‘ Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham ’ is still winning hearts, going viral on social media, and inspiring new generations. And no one is more thrilled than Kareena herself.

The rise of a Diva

Back in 2001, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ introduced Bollywood fans to Pooja, better known as Poo – a stylish, sassy diva with a no-nonsense attitude and a wardrobe to match. With just a flick of her hair or a killer one-liner, Poo became one of Kareena’s most iconic roles. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan , Kajol, Hrithik Roshan , Amitabh Bachchan , Jaya Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor , went on to become a superhit. From its star cast to its songs, costumes, emotions and dialogues, it struck a chord with audiences and still remains a fan favourite.

Fans still obsessed with Poo
Even today, fans just can’t get enough of Poo. Her iconic one-liners are quoted everywhere—from Instagram reels to friendly banter, and her diva attitude continues to pop up in everyday humour and fashion choices. Whether it’s “Tumhara koi haq nahi banta ki tum itni khoobsurat lago. Not fair,” or her unforgettable entry scene in the film, Poo has become more than just a character—she’s a pop culture moment that refuses to fade away.

Kareena Kapoor reacts with a classic line
On Wednesday night, Kareena took to her Instagram story to reshare a post that celebrated her portrayal of Poo. The post, originally by Vogue India, read, “Kareena Kapoor Khan's iconic portrayal of Poo still captivates a generation. She was our Cher Horowitz and Elle Woods, enveloped in unapologetic BDE (big diva energy).”
In response, Kareena gave a nod to one of Poo’s most famous lines and added some emojis for flair. She wrote, "I like it... I like it” ❤️🌈😂. It was the perfect reaction in true Poo style—and a reminder of why the character remains so beloved.
Kareena on living with Poo’s legacy
In an earlier interview with PTI, Kareena opened up about what it’s like to be so closely associated with her character from ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. She said, “As an actor, you want to try and do something different every time. For me, it is difficult because I’ve been known for playing Poo and Geet... This thing has been fixed in people’s minds. So, that has been a conscious effort that now I want to do different things.”
