The academic year 2025–26 is all set to begin on Thursday, with government schools across Karnataka preparing to welcome students with warmth and festive spirit. Over 46,000 schools from Class 1 to 10 will commence classes on the very first day itself. Students will also be treated to midday meals along with sweets, and distribution of free uniforms and textbooks will begin immediately.

The Department of School Education and Literacy has organized a grand School Reopening Ceremony at Patel Munichinnappa Karnataka Public School in Ayyappa Garden, Adugodi, Bengaluru. The event will be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa. The program will begin at 11:00 AM.

While some private schools have already started their academic sessions, the majority of others are set to reopen from Thursday, following the official academic calendar, which has already been released.

Meanwhile, the Education Department has issued a circular to all schools, mandating thorough cleaning and sanitization of premises before reopening. Schools have been instructed to ensure availability of clean drinking water, inspect for structural safety, and remove any hazardous electrical wiring. Authorities are also advised to take precautionary safety measures in cooperation with local communities to prevent any untoward incidents.

With comprehensive preparations in place, the state is geared up to begin a new academic year focused on safety, learning, and student welfare.
