After about 12 years, the institute has made a big change in its B.Tech curriculum. This change will not only make the way of studying more interesting but will also reduce the burden of studies on the students. Along with this, students will now be prepared according to the demands of modern technology and industry.

New course made from students' feedback

IIT Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee said that work on this new course structure had started in 2022 itself. For this, suggestions were taken from students, alumni and faculty. He said that our aim is to give students a better and flexible learning opportunity. Now the course will be such that students can learn and do something new on their own.

Study pressure will be reduced in the first year

Under the new change, the number of core credits in the first year's two semesters has been reduced so that new students are not afraid of the heavy syllabus. Apart from this, the class size of the first year has also been reduced from 300 to 150 so that every student can get personal attention.

New thinking of "Learn and do it yourself"

Now studies will not be limited to books only. IIT Delhi has adopted the method of 'Learning by Doing'. Students will not only study theory but will also work on real life problems.

Focus on both technology and environment

AI based code generator has also been included in the new course so that students can understand the technologies of the future. Along with this, all the students will also be given training on sustainability (environmental balance) so that they can bring positive change in society and industry.

Double benefit of Honors and M.Tech

Now students will be able to do Honors program along with B.Tech. Apart from this, at the end of the third year, students can directly join IIT Delhi's M.Tech program and obtain both Bachelors and Masters degrees in 5 years.

Inspiration from courses from around the world

Rangan Banerjee said that for this change, he has also studied in depth the courses of global institutions like Stanford, MIT, Cambridge, so that the new curriculum of IIT Delhi can be of international level.
