Santander has launched a new offer of an extra £180 for new and existing customers. The bank is offering the free cash when you switch to a current account using the Current Account Switch Service.

You can get the funds when switching to either a Santander Everyday, Edge, Edge Up, or Private (v2) current account.

Anthony Warrington, head of banking at Santander UK, said: "Summer is fast approaching and many people will be saving up for the holidays - whether it be for that trip abroad, festival, or day out with the family.

"That's why we're pleased to be introducing our new £180 switcher incentive, providing even more value for customers making the move to Santander.

"It's a simple, straightforward way to get rewarded for switching, while benefitting from our range of popular current accounts - making your money go that little bit further this summer."

What conditions do you have to meet to get the £180 Santander switch offer?

To qualify for the extra cash, you need to submit a switch request either online or in branch from today (May 29) until the offer is withdrawn.

Also within 60 days of your request to switch, you need to:

  • Complete the full switch including closing your old account
  • Pay in at least £1,500 into your new Santander account
  • Set up at least two active household direct debits

Once you have met all the conditions, the £180 will be paid within 90 days of starting the switch process. You will not qualify if you had a Santander current account on January 1, 2025.

Current customers with one of the eligible Santander accounts can still get the bonus cash, if they switch over their balances and direct debits from another provider.

Other banking customers will soon be getting some extra cash, as Nationwide confirmed today that it will pay out £100 again through its Fairer Share Payment scheme to loyal customers.

To get the cash, you will need to have been a member with either a qualifying current account, a qualifying savings or a qualifying mortgage, and to meet other specific criteria.

Those eligible for the cash will get their payment between June 18 and July 4, 2025. The funds can only be paid into an open Nationwide current account.
