Jade Damarell, 32, a seasoned parachutist, is believed to have intentionally ended her life after being dumped by her boyfriend, according to the New York Post. On April 28, she tragically fell more than 10,000 feet at Shotton Colliery in County Durham without deploying her parachute.

With over 400 successful jumps, Ms. Damarell had recently quarreled with fellow skydiver Ben Goodfellow, 26. An anonymous friend revealed the couple had been dating for about eight months and were “inseparable,” often spending all their time together and sharing skydiving adventures. They even lived together in a double room near the airfield.

However, the night before her death, Goodfellow ended the relationship. “The night before Jade died, Ben called it off. He went to work the next day, and that’s when Jade fell,” the friend said.

Police reportedly found a suicide note referencing the breakup. Another friend explained that while Jade had ended things with Ben before, this was the first time he broke up with her. Ben, described as a quiet person, is “absolutely distraught” over the tragedy.

Professionally, Ms. Damarell worked as a marketing manager for Silver Spoon after graduating from Leeds University. Goodfellow was employed as a technician at Nissan and also led Sunderland indie band Post Rome as singer and guitarist.

Initially considered accidental, SkyHigh Skydiving confirmed police had indicated the death was a deliberate act. The agency expressed deep sorrow, extending condolences to Jade’s loved ones facing this devastating loss.
