Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi ’s comedy drama ‘ Bhool Chuk Maaf ’ is winning hearts and raking in big numbers. In just seven days, the film has crossed Rs. 44 crore at the box office as reported by Sacnilk. This is a solid start for this small-town love story. Despite delays and tough competition, the film has found its place with family audiences, thanks to its mix of humour, emotion and feel-good charm.
A warm opening and a strong weekend
Released on 23 May 2025, ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ kicked off its theatrical journey with a solid Rs. 7 crore on Day 1. Over the weekend, the numbers only got better. On Saturday, it collected Rs. 9.5 crore, followed by Rs. 11.5 crore on Sunday – its highest single-day total in the first week. By the end of its first weekend, the film had already earned Rs. 28 crore, showing clear signs that word-of-mouth and audience love were working in its favour.

Day 7 occupancy
On Thursday, 29 May 2025, ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ showed a steady turnout across cinema halls, with an overall average occupancy of 11.19% for its Hindi 2D version. The film had a slow start in the morning with just 5.72% occupancy but picked up during the day. Afternoon shows recorded a healthy 13.40%, followed by 11.46% in the evening. The night shows saw the highest audience turnout at 14.18%.

Holding steady through the week
Weekdays usually bring a drop in collections, but ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ held its ground quite well.
  • Monday saw Rs. 4.5 crore
  • Tuesday improved slightly with Rs. 4.75 crore
  • Wednesday followed with Rs. 3.5 crore
  • Thursday, the seventh day, brought in Rs. 3.25 crore (as per early estimates by Sacnilk)

This brought the film’s total to Rs. 44 crore by the end of the first week – a very respectable number for this comedy drama.
About ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’
Set in Banaras, the film tells the story of Ranjan (played by Rajkummar Rao), a young man madly in love with a girl named Titli (played by Wamiqa Gabbi). To marry her, he aims to get a government job. But things take a surprising turn when he breaks a vow made to Lord Shiva and ends up stuck in a tricky situation – one that he must fix to get his life back on track.
The film has received fairly positive reviews from critics too. A review by ETimes gave it 3 out of 5 stars and shared, “The first half takes a bit too long to get to the point with innumerable songs added for no rhyme or reason. Humour is largely clean and safe if you excuse the occasional ‘tatti jokes’. It’s the second half that changes the game. It is here that the film addresses growing apathy, isolated existence, and self-centric living.” This mix of humour and heart seems to have struck a balance that works well for the audience.
