Under the 2026 International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA) program, Professor GS Vaitheeswaran of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) School of Physics has been chosen to visit the National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan. From January 13, 2026, until February 20, Professor Vaitheeswaran will work with Professor Kazunari Yamaura’s Quantum Solid State Materials research group for five weeks.

In addition to establishing a long-term scientific cooperation between NIMS and the University of Hyderabad, this collaboration intends to investigate the technological uses of these materials. A renowned researcher, Professor Vaitheeswaran has received several honors, such as the BM Birla Science Prize in Physics, the DAE Young Achiever Award, and Fellow status in the Royal Society of Chemistry.

According to a senior executive at UoH, he is also an Associate Editor of the Bulletin of Materials Science and is ranked in the top 2% of scientists worldwide by the Stanford Survey for 2024.
