The huge selling Defender probably did not need any update as it continues to notch up big sales. However, the SUV has been around for a while and an update was due in terms of interior technology. Now globally the Defender gets some tweaks too. There are new colours, new headlamps with a different lighting signature plus a more muscular front end while the wheel caps are new too with Defender lettering. It's not a huge change design wise but there are new taillamps too with a smoked finish. You can also spec upto 22inch wheels as well.

However, it is the interior that gets the bigger change with the larger 13.1 in touchscreen while adaptive off-road cruise control is also added in. The bigger screen fills up the centre console more and looks more modern. It remains to be seen when these updates are rolled out for the India spec Defender. However, more than these changes the fact is that the Defender could be locally assembled in India which could mean a potential price drop.

Elsewhere the Octa and the Defender 130 also get changes. The powertrain lineup in India will be the same mostly as and when this updated new model comes in which means the standard 2.0l turbo petrol as well as a 5 litre V8 plus a 4.4 litre V8. We can expect an India launch for the updated Defender by next year or later this year.
