Spotify is introducing new features focused on podcasts to make it simpler than ever to follow and find programs. The streaming behemoth has added a Following feed to its mobile app, a special area where users can catch up on the most recent episodes of their favorite podcasts, in an effort to enhance the user experience.
Spotify said that “finding the latest episodes of podcasts you follow has proved to be challenging” in a recent blog post. This is addressed with the new Following feed, which provides a convenient area under the Home screen’s main Podcast tab where all new releases from following programs are arranged in an orderly fashion.
In addition to assisting consumers with subscription management, Spotify is promoting podcast discovery. Just under the shortcut area, the Home feed will now include personalized podcast and video podcast suggestions. These recommendations are meant to facilitate and enhance the immersive experience of discovering new material. Spotify may also include a brief remark outlining the reasoning behind a particular show’s recommendation in order to gain customers’ confidence and “make bold picks feel more accessible.”
Spotify is introducing tools for creators to improve audience interaction. Podcasters will be able to connect to Spotify material that is referenced throughout their broadcasts in a new section called “In this episode.” In the next weeks, this functionality is anticipated to become live.
Emoji responses and threaded answers are also being introduced to podcast comments, giving listeners more engaging ways to interact with presenters and other fans.
Spotify maintains its positioning as a one-stop shop for podcast makers and listeners with these upgrades.
