As well as seeing his father become King, William has also inherited new roles, with one of these being his role as Duke of Cornwall. This is because he is now head of the The Duchy of Cornwall estate - an estate that dates back to 1337 when it was established by Edward III. The estate provides a private income to the heir of the throne and spans across 128,494 acres of land.
This land is spread across 20 counties, with residents on the estates paying rent to the Duchy.
While not much is published about the estate, as its head, Prince William visits a part of the Duchy every four to six weeks, as , who accompanied the prince on a recent private visit.
The Prince of Wales spends time chatting to residents and businesses on the estate, and it turns out the estate also has one very famous tenant.
Although it may seem odd, Prince William is technically his father King Charles' landlord. This is because one of the monarch's beloved homes - Highgrove - is part of the estate, which William has been head of since his time as the Prince of Wales.
During a visit in May to the Duchy estate, William's passion for the estate shined through, much like his father's did.
"The Duchy has been a positive force for good, but we can do so much more.
"I think the key thing is, it's about not losing the important community and historical links of the Duchy. But it's also about making sure we're building on and enhancing, modernising the Duchy.
"We're going to modernise it without losing its key spirit of community."
