New Delhi, May 30: Approximately 47% of digital transactions are conducted in India, with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) expanding its global reach, emphasized Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia.

India is currently at the forefront of a technological and telecommunications revolution.

Scindia noted, "India is recognized as a digital-first economy, and we are witnessing a telecom revolution. The scalability of our systems has significantly lowered communication costs, making them among the most affordable globally. The nation has achieved self-reliance in telecom and is one of the four countries capable of manufacturing the entire technology stack," during his address at the Annual Business Summit 2025 organized by CII.

He also highlighted that technology is revolutionizing the postal department, introducing innovative services.

The minister pointed out that fostering trust through enlightened leadership is crucial for sustainable growth and is essential for propelling India forward.

He remarked on India's achievement of becoming the fourth largest economy in the world, which is a significant milestone.

Scindia further emphasized the importance of the northeastern region as a key player in India's development, noting its growth rate surpassing 12-13% over the past decade.

"The eight northeastern states are set to become a driving force behind India's vision of a developed Bharat," he stated.

Sanjiv Puri, President of CII, congratulated the Minister for attracting investment interest of ₹4.3 lakh crore from the 'Rising North-East Investors Summit 2025', highlighting the region's transformation into India's strategic gateway to Southeast Asia, enhancing trade, connectivity, and the goal of a developed Bharat.

"There is immense potential for industry involvement in sectors like skill development in hospitality and food processing, which should be maximized for optimal benefits," he added.
