WhatsApp, the most widely used messaging app in India, has introduced four new features to spice up its popular Status feature, aiming to make sharing moments more creative and interactive. These updates are part of WhatsApp’s continued effort to enhance user experience, especially for its massive Indian user base.

The new features include photo collages, music stickers, customizable photo-to-sticker conversion, and a viral chain-style “Add Yours” sticker. All of them are designed to make Status updates more engaging and expressive.

Importantly, privacy settings remain unchanged—Statuses are only visible to saved contacts, and all content continues to be protected by end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp now lets users combine up to six photos into a single collage, using built-in layout tools. Users can customize the design, adjust image sizes, and create a more visually appealing presentation of their moments—all within the app.

A much-awaited update, users can now share music directly as a standalone Status update or embed music as a sticker onto photos or videos. Whether it’s a song that matches your selfie mood or just something you want your friends to hear, music stickers add a new level of personality to your statuses.

Now, any photo from your gallery can be turned into a customizable sticker. Before sharing, users can resize, reposition, or reshape the sticker to suit the content. This opens up endless possibilities for self-expression using your own images.

Taking inspiration from viral content formats, the “Add Yours” sticker allows users to post a prompt or question alongside their Status update. Friends can tap and respond with their own version, creating a chain of personalized statuses that connect users in a fun and engaging way—perfect for groups or trending challenges.

According to WhatsApp, these new Status features will roll out gradually and become available to users worldwide in the coming months. Some users may already begin seeing the updates depending on their app version and region.

In addition to these Status upgrades, WhatsApp is also working on a Logout feature that could prove extremely useful for multi-device users.

Currently in testing, this feature will allow users to sign out of their WhatsApp account without uninstalling the app or losing chat data. It offers two options:
