Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia: According to Olympics.com, Indian wrestlers continued their stellar performance on Friday in the Ulaanbaatar Open 2025 wrestling Ranking Series tournament in Mongolia, where they won six medals, including four golds.
Antim Panghal, an Olympian from Paris in 2024, led the effort with a strong performance in the women’s 53kg division. After defeating Ariunzaya Odonchimeg of Mongolia 10-0 to go to the final, she easily defeated neutral athlete Natalia Malysheva 10-0 to take the gold.
In the 57kg final, Neha Sangwan, making her senior debut, surprised the odds by beating Mongolian Olympian Bolortuya Khurelkhuu 4-0 to take first place on the podium.
Harshita (72 kg) and Muskan (59 kg) both won gold in their weight divisions. Both wrestlers, who competed in the Nordic system, had four victories each and were undefeated. Muskan defeated Anudari Batkhuyag of Mongolia 13-5 then defeated Bediha Gun of Turkey 5-4 on his way to gold.
On her route to the top of the podium, Harshita, a previous U17 world champion, defeated Asian champion Bolortungalag Zorigt of Mongolia in a crucial win.
Neelam won bronze in the women’s 50kg freestyle division, while Suraj settled for silver in the men’s Greco-Roman 60kg class.
India now has 12 medals overall from the Ulaanbaatar Open after Friday’s results, including five gold, three silver, and four bronze.
More than 200 wrestlers have entered the Ulaanbaatar Open, the third event on the UWW Ranking Series schedule. On Saturday, there will be the first round of gold medal fights in men’s freestyle and five additional women’s freestyle weight classes.
