On Friday, the Greater Noida Authority said that it has authorized a plan to build a 4-kilometer elevated expressway that would link Sector 4 to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. After starting at Sector 4’s 130-meter-wide road, the route would cross Shahberi and Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad before connecting to the highway. Officials said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will carry out the project.

The development authorities of Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad are anticipated to collaborate in funding the Rs 400 crore project, according to Greater Noida Authority officials.

Due to the anticipated increase in traffic in Noida Extension, we have granted in-principle clearance for this 4-kilometer elevated route. Since the 4km elevated route would allow Greater Noida to be easily connected to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, we have written to NHAI to get it built. According to the HT article, Ravi Kumar NG, the chief executive officer of the Greater Noida authority, said that when NHAI prepares the comprehensive project report, the work would proceed to the next phase.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was brought on board for the project, according to officials, in part because of its capacity to quickly purchase the land required for the elevated route.

Because NHAI has just acquired property for the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, it may perform better when it comes to purchasing land for the project in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad. A Greater Noida authority official who was aware of the development said that NHAI would be in a better position to determine the land costs.

Along the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, the Noida Extension in Greater Noida and the Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad are next to one another. Despite their reputation as centers of inexpensive housing, both townships typically suffer from severe traffic congestion as a result of poor connection.

The Greater Noida Authority is taking both immediate and long-term steps to reduce traffic congestion, according to Ravi Kumar NG.

The long-term plan includes the elevated road’s development. The construction of an underpass at Kisan Chowk in Noida Extension’s Sector 1 is another significant long-term project that should be completed in one and a half years. To enhance traffic flow, the authority is concentrating on enlarging internal sector and arterial roadways in the near future.

Additionally, the government recently finished extending the 1.5-kilometer Shahberi Road and made it accessible to commuters, improving connection between Ghaziabad and Greater Noida.

“There is terrible traffic at rush hour. In the morning and evening, it takes an hour to go one kilometer. In addition to constructing roads, the authorities must also enhance road regulations.

According to HT, Gaur City resident Anita Prajapati said, “The authority must also remove roadside encroachments that cause daily traffic jams.”
