Mumbai: A 33-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) on Friday after a speeding dumper struck her Activa scooter. The driver fled the scene. The victim has been identified as Chanda Mane.

Mane, a Jogeshwari East resident who worked for a real estate firm in BKC, was returning home around 8.30pm after visiting a Vikhroli site when the incident occurred near the Vedant petrol pump. She was run over after being knocked down from behind. She was declared dead at Cooper Hospital.

Her brother filed a complaint, and MIDC police registered a case under Section 106(1) (death by negligence), Section 281 (rash driving), and applicable Motor Vehicles Act provisions. CCTV footage is being reviewed to trace the driver.
