Perplexity initially launched as a real-time answer engine and later introduced Deep Research (now renamed simply “Research”) to provide more comprehensive analysis. Labs is the next evolution, allowing users to move from idea to execution, thanks to a suite of powerful tools including code generation, deep web browsing, and data visualization.

Hyderabad: Perplexity has announced the dawn of Perplexity Labs, a new feature aimed at helping users transform ideas into fully fledged projects—with time frames measuring minutes. With Labs having gone live for Pro subscribers, the utilization of the platform has evolved from matter-of-fact answers or deep research toward generation of reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, code, and even web apps.
Initially launched as a direct answer engine, Perplexity later offered Deep Research now simply named “Research” with the aim of rendering broader analysis. Following this, Labs embarked on an evolutionary program that assists users from ideation to execution with an array of heavy tools including code generation, deep web browsing, and data visualization.
It can take just 10 minutes with Labs, and what could take days usually, combining disparate skill sets from research, coding, and design into one streamlined workflow, the company says. The new “Assets” tab is an organizing structure for all vast files generated during a project, whereas the “App” tab allows the immediate deployment of lightweight interactive web apps such as dashboards and basic websites from within the interface.
This makes it easy to work through Perplexity Labs on everything from business planning and marketing campaigns to weekly meal planning. There is access to Labs for Pro users from the Web navigation mode selector, as well as from iOS and Android, with support for Mac and Windows coming soon.
Perplexity encourages users to try the Labs for themselves, either by grabbing any task from their to-do list or by poking around in the Projects Gallery for pre-built examples.
