Miley Cyrus reveals if she took a dig at Jennifer Lawrence's rumoured affair with Liam Hemsworth in 'Flowers' music video
Miley Cyrus has addressed rumours that have been swirling around on the internet since the release of 2023 song 'Flowers.' Ever since Cyrus dropped the music video for her song, fans have been having speculations if the dress was an 'ode' to Jennifer Lawrence . However, the star is now setting the record straight.
In her 2023 music video 'Flowers', Miley Cyrus was seen wearing a stylish gold dress with a hoodie feature as well as cuts on the side. After release, many people started speculating online that the dress was a direct reference to Lawrence .
The Oscar winner had previously worn an almost similar dress in 2012 for the premier of a franchise film, 'The Hunger Games'. She had posted alongside Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. At that time rumours spread that Liam Hemsworth, who had been dating Miley at the time, had cheated on her with Lawrence, hence the reason for their breakup.
Fans had since been wondering if the dress was a reference to the actress; however, all rumours and speculations about the matter have been put to rest. Miley was spotted outside 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' for a shoot, where she went out to interact with fans and give out some autographs as well. While signing a placard, someone from the crowd suddenly asked Miley "Was your 'flowers' dress a reference to Jennifer Lawrence?"
The singer effortlessly replied to the question by stating "No, but I love that dress of hers," putting all rumours about the dig at Lawrence to an end.
While Miley did not make much comments about it at the time, Lawrence did in fact address the rumours. During her feature on the show 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen', the actress talked about this issue in 2023. Cohen had asked her directly about the rumours by saying "There was already a lot of talk that the music video was referencing a secret fling that you had with Liam Hemsworth while he was with Miley Cyrus," Cohen asked. "Can you please respond to this?"
Jennifer had quickly responded by saying, "I would love to: Not true, total rumour. I mean, we all know me and Liam, like, kissed one time (in the film 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1'). It was years after they'd broke up. So I just assumed that was, like, a coincidence."
