American-Indian student Megha Vemuri has been stopped by attending an event held on Thursday at Masachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Megha Vemuri, who hails from Alfareta, Georgia, recently gave a speech in support of Falistine, after which the university banned his participation in the program.
Megha Vemuri MIT is a 2025 batch chairman and got a chance to become an event marshal in this year’s graduation ceremony. However, the university’s Chancellor Melissa Nobles announced that Megha would no longer be a part of the event.
The reason for this move is being told by Megha to give a speech in support of Falistine and the opinion to it. Megha supported the Falistine in his speech, after which the university took action against him.
The incident came to light when Megha was to be part of the main event at the graduation ceremony, but the university administration denied her post.
The matter has become a matter of concern on the freedom of the university’s expression and the political stages of the students, as the move is being considered as a ban on political opinion.
The MIT administration says that political or controversial speeches are not allowed in the university campus and action has been taken under the rules. At the same time, Megha has objected against this decision, saying that this decision is against unfair and independent opinion of students.
