Bharat Arun, who served as Team India’s bowling coach from 2014 to 2021, has now taken up a role training Sri Lankan cricketers. Under the leadership of Sri Lanka’s head coach Sanath Jayasuriya, Arun will coach both junior and senior Sri Lankan players for 14 days starting June 2 at the High Performance Center.

This initiative comes as part of Sri Lanka Cricket’s efforts to revive the team after their disappointing performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where they finished ninth and failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy. Alongside Bharat Arun, other former Indian coaches like fielding coach R. Sridhar and Rajasthan Royals’ batting coach Zubin Bharucha have also contributed to Sri Lanka’s training programs.

Sri Lanka will soon host Bangladesh for a series including two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20s in June, followed by an A team tour to Australia in July. These coaching efforts aim to prepare the team for better results ahead.
