Eid al adha 2025: Eid-ul-Azha, commonly called Bakrid, is not just a religious festival, but a symbol of renunciation, faith and spirit of service. As this festival is getting closer, the environment of preparations and festive atmosphere among the people is clearly visible. Bakrid, one of the most important festivals of the religion of Islam, is deeply created in the spirit of sacrifice.

This festival is reminiscent of the great faith and dedication of the Prophet Abraham, when he prepared to sacrifice his son on the orders of Allah. In the memory of this sacrifice and devotion, Muslims from all over the world sacrifice animals on this day.

When will Bakrid celebrated in India and Saudi Arabia?

Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid is celebrated on the basis of the moon of the moon of the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. In Saudi Arabia this year, the moon of the district Hija was observed on the evening of 27 May 2025, causing the Islamic month from May 28. On this basis, Bakrid will be celebrated on 6 June 2025 in Saudi Arabia.

At the same time, the moon in India took place on May 28, so Bakrid will be celebrated here on 7 June 2025.

Why does India and Saudi Arabia make a difference in dates?

This question often comes to the mind of the people why the festival dates in both countries are different. The main reason for this is the variation in the process of seeing the moon. The moon often appears first in Saudi Arabia and the Islamic months begin a day before.

Islamic dates are fixed on the basis of local lunar philosophy in India, so the festival is celebrated here after one day. This year, the moon was seen in India on 28 May, which fixed Bakrid on 7 June.

Religious importance of Bakrid

Eid-ul-Azha is directly to Haj pilgrimage and great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. According to Islamic belief, Allah tested the faith of Prophet Abraham and asked him to sacrifice his son Ismail. The Prophet, following the order of Allah, decided to sacrifice his son, but at the last moment Allah sent a ram in place of Ismail.

This incident became a symbol of renunciation, faith and dedication, which is remembered every year on the occasion of Bakrid.

The tradition of sacrifice and its social message

On this day, Muslims sacrifice the animal, whose flesh is divided into three parts – one part is given to the poor, the other is kept to relatives and friends and the third part is kept for themselves. This tradition gives the message of cooperation, kindness and social unity.

Bakrid is not only a religious ritual, but it also inspires to adopt the values of humanity, devotion and service.
