The world's smallest road is located in a peaceful UK village, and it is even smaller than some people. Ebenezer Place, located in Wick, , is credited by as the smallest street in the world.

Measuring just 2.06m, 6ft 9 inches, the street has only one address: a located on the corner of the tarmac. In comparison, Paul Sturgess, the UK's tallest man, is 7ft 7.26 inches, meaning he would not fit inside the street. Mackays Hotel, the business operating inside the only premise on Ebenezer Place, is proud of the street's claim to fame.

They said: "The history - When Alexander Sinclair returned from America in 1883, after making his fortune, he built Mackays Hotel on the corner of Union Street and River Street.

"The council instructed him to put a name on the short end of the building, as they deemed it a separate street. Ebenezer Place then appeared in the town's records from 1887."

Robert Louis Stevenson, who spent time in Wick while his father built a new breakwater in the bay, referred to our location in his 1883 book, Treasure Island.

explained: "The record for the shortest street is held by Ebenezer Place in Wick, Caithness, Scotland, which measured 2.05 m (6 ft 9 in) long, when checked on 28 October 2006."

"Wick doesn't really have an awful lot going for it - so I guess this gives it something out-of-the-ordinary to check out.

"Three short strides takes you from one end of the street to the next, and it's occupied by the thin end of Mackays Hotel."

TripAdvisor user @ITRT explained: "The Guinness Book of World Records has documented this street as the smallest street in the world.

"The length of the street is only six feet 9 inches long, the distance between the No. 1 signs on the only building on this 1833 street. As you drive by, if you blink you will miss it, like I did on the first pass by."

Another TripAdvisor user added: "This 'street' is more of a gimmick in the fact that the building has three sides and all have different street names."
