praised his wife Anita Dobson after she walked away with a gong at the British Soap Awards. Anita, 76, was awarded Scene of the Year at the awards ceremony on Saturday (May 31) for Angie Watts' shock return in EastEnders.

The actress starred as the Queen Vic landlady from the BBC soap's inception in 1985 to 1988. It was revealed the character had died off-screen in 2002, seemingly dashing hopes of her ever returning. However, Anita reprised the role of Angie as part of the soap's 40th anniversary in February, appearing to daughter Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) in her imagination.

Trapped in The Vic, Sharon began to lose consciousness and started hallucinating that her adoptive mother was speaking to her. The infamous character told her to start screaming for help as she reassured her that it wasn't her time to go yet.

The scene beat Amy Wyatt's deadly plunge in Emmerdale, Mason's death in Coronation Street and Mercedes confronting her own mortality in Hollyoaks. Taking to , Brian, 77, said he was "massively proud" of his wife's achievement as he shared the news with his followers.

Alongside an image of Anita as Angie, the Queen guitarist penned: "Congratulations Anita Dobson !!! My incredibly talented lady wife --- winner of the Scene of the Year award - for returning as a ghost from another life to shake the East End one more time !! Massively proud!!!."

Fans were overcome with emotion as they flocked to the comments to congratulate Anita, with many noting it is extra special after Brian and his bandmate Roger Taylor just a few days before.

"Congratulations to your lovely wife Anita!! Double joy together with the Polar Award," penned one as a second echoed: "Congratulations, that's wonderful! So you both got fantastic prices in just one week, great!!"
