A week after being expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and publicly disowned by his father, Tej Pratap Yadav addressed his parents via social media, stating his willingness to obey any instruction they give. In the post, he wrote that his “entire world” revolves around them and he values their “trust and love” above all. The post was directed at Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, reflecting Tej Pratap’s appeal to remain connected to the family despite recent developments.

Expulsion from party and family follows social media controversy

Tej Pratap’s expulsion was announced by Lalu Prasad last Sunday, citing behaviour that was inconsistent with the party’s principles and family values. Lalu stated that ignoring personal moral values weakens the party’s broader mission of social justice. The decision came after Tej Pratap shared — and later deleted — a post featuring a woman he claimed to have been in a 12-year relationship with. He later said the images were manipulated and posted without his consent, alleging that his social media accounts had been hacked.

Aishwarya Rai raises allegations against the Yadav family

After the public fallout, Aishwarya Rai, Tej Pratap’s estranged wife and the granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai, alleged that her marriage was arranged by the Yadav family for political advantage. She claimed that Lalu Yadav was aware of Tej Pratap’s previous relationship before their 2018 marriage. Calling the recent events “election drama” ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, she further accused the family of mistreating her during her short-lived marriage. She alleged both physical and verbal abuse, and questioned the family's claims of moral responsibility by asking, “Where was their social justice then?”

Tensions with Tejashwi Yadav and political shifts over time

Sources within the RJD have pointed to a long-standing tension between Tej Pratap and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, who currently serves as the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar. While Tej Pratap initially remained distant from active politics, focusing on spiritual life, he later held posts such as Bihar’s health minister in 2015 and environment minister in 2022. His attempts to re-establish a strong political presence reportedly caused further internal friction.

Tejashwi publicly backed Lalu’s decision, saying, “Personal and public life are two different things. My brother is an adult and free to make decisions about his personal life.”

Recent family milestone and public gesture from Tej Pratap

Despite the ongoing tensions, Tej Pratap congratulated Tejashwi and his wife Rajshree on the birth of their second child. In a post, he wrote, “Congratulations and best wishes to my younger brother, Tejashwi, and Rajshree. Sending love and blessings to my nephew.” The message followed greetings extended to the couple by leaders from various political parties.
