England vs West Indies 2nd ODI Highlights: England defeated West Indies by 3 wickets in the second ODI played at Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens on Sunday (June 1) on the basis of veteran batsman Joe Root’s record innings. With this, England have taken an unassailable 2–0 lead in the series.
Chasing the target, England started poorly and both openers returned to the pavilion without opening an account. After this, captain Harry Brook scored an innings of 47 runs and joined the innings a little with Joe Root. Half the team was dismissed for a total score of 133 runs, then Root and Will Jacks shared a 143 -run partnership for the sixth wicket.
Root scored the biggest score of his ODI career, scoring an unbeaten 166 in 139 balls, hitting 21 fours and 2 sixes. Will Jacks contributed 49 runs in 58 balls. Due to which England won 7 wickets in 48.5 overs.
Aljari Joseph took 4 wickets for the West Indies, Jayden Seals, Matthew Ford and Roston Chase took 1–1 wickets.
Earlier, after receiving the batting invitation, the West Indies team scored 308 runs in 47.4 overs. Batting brilliantly for the West Indies, Kisi Carty scored a century and scored 103 runs in 105 balls with the help of 13 fours. Apart from this, Shai Hope scored 78 runs in 66 balls and Brandon King scored 59 runs in 67 balls. But apart from these three, no player could leave his mark, due to which the West Indies could not play the entire 50 overs.
For England, Adil Rashid took 4 wickets, Saqib Mahmood took 3 wickets, Bridan Cars, Jacob Bethel and Will Jax took 1-1 wickets.
