Bengaluru: The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has achieved a record daily milk collection of 1.06 crore litres, following the state government’s move to increase the incentive for milk producers by ₹4 per litre. This was announced by KMF Managing Director B. Shivaswamy during an event marking World Milk Day at the KMF headquarters on Sunday.
During the event, KMF also launched 18 new bakery products in three categories: spice cakes, muffins, and bar cakes. Shivaswamy highlighted that the previous record of one crore litres was achieved on June 28 last year, but the new figure recorded on June 1, 2025, sets a new milestone for the cooperative, which has an annual turnover of approximately ₹24,000 crore.
Focus on quality paneer production
Noting the growing demand for paneer across India, Shivaswamy pointed out that many private brands have come under fire for poor quality and freshness. In response, KMF is now focusing on producing fresh and hygienic paneer, and he credited the staff for ensuring high standards of quality.
Nandini brand expands global footprint
Shivaswamy also revealed that KMF’s Nandini brand is now expanding into international markets. However, he expressed concern that milk consumption in Karnataka remains lower than in several other states.
Paneer cooking competition winners announced
As part of the World Milk Day celebrations, KMF had organized a “Nandini Paneer Culinary Contest,” which saw participation from 300 contestants across the state. Mahalaxmi from Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru, won the first prize of ₹50,000.
