Agartala, June 2: The government of Tripura has announced plans to convert the Ludhua tea estate in Sabroom into an eco-tourism hub, aiming to enhance the state's tourism industry.
This tea estate spans 22 acres in South Tripura and is known for producing high-quality black and green tea.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, along with Tourism Director Prashant Badal Negi and former MLA Sankar Roy, visited the estate on Monday to discuss the initiative with local officials.
During a press briefing, the Minister revealed that a detailed project report (DPR) is being drafted, with an estimated budget of Rs. 32 crore.
“We plan to issue the tender within the next six weeks, and construction is expected to begin in three months,” he stated.
As per reports, the envisioned eco-tourism site will feature various amenities, including a picturesque lake with boating options, a distinctive roof bridge, a children's play area, nature trails, and opportunities to experience local handicrafts and traditional cuisine.
“Our objective is to highlight every potential tourist spot in Tripura and firmly establish it on India's tourism map. The Ludhua Tea Garden is a prime example,” Chowdhury emphasized.
The Minister compared the tea estate to those in Darjeeling, noting that the natural beauty and untouched charm of Ludhua Tea Estate offer a “Darjeeling-like” experience.
