expert Charlie Ross was left furious after an auctioneer gave up on selling his item. Going head-to-head with competitor James Bracton, Charlie set off from Shenton in Leicestershire and ended up at an auction in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire. Charlie, 75, had high hopes for his £15 Rosewood mirror as he watched as the bidding began. However, he was quickly left gobsmacked when the mirror failed to attract any bids.
The auctioneer began: "Start me at £30 please for this lot. 30 anybody interested? At 30? Nobody interested? 30? 20 then to start. 20 anybody interested? Nobody interested? Nope? I'm moving on..." Charlie put his head in his hands as James couldn't help but laugh at the situation. When the auctioneer was greeted with more disinterest from bidders, he decided to move on.
A horrified Charlie immediately lifted his head and exclaimed: "What do you mean moving on?" as James chuckled, clarifying, "He's moving on. Moving on."
A flabbergasted Charlie then vented his frustration: "Do you think he might not sell any of my items?".
Last week, as frustration mounted over 's format. Experts David Fergus and Caroline Hawley featured alongside Ross, but it was the host who bore the brunt of viewer backlash.
Fans flooded social media with calls for change, blasting the show as repetitive and poorly produced. Taking to X, one viewer fumed: "I cannot believe that utter drivel is still going and it's not changed since it first started!"
Another said: "Bargain Hunt is so predictable. Needs a total shake up. Get rid of Charlie Ross would be first."
A third echoed: "The epitome of boredom is a wet bank holiday Monday watching Bargain Hunt."
Charlie joined Bargain Hunt in 2018, four years after joining the cast of Antiques Road Trip. The expert started his career at a local estate agent firm, before finding himself auctioning chickens and turkeys.
From here, he progressed to antique furniture and eventually set up his own auction house near Milton Keynes.
Charlie previously spoke to Express.co.uk about his future on the show, revealing he has no plans to leave until people want him to.
He said: "I think as long as I enjoy it I will carry on doing it, and as long as I am wanted to do it. As long as no one says 'Who is that boring bugger? We don't want him anymore'."
