This is the second time in the last three years that Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium is hosting the final of the Indian Premier League. However, for the first time in the history of the league, a new team will be clinching their first-ever IPL Trophy. Notably, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face off against each other on June 3, at Ahmedabad. And according to the Ahmedabad Weather Department, there are some chances of rain in the final match.

Speaking to India Today, director of the Ahmedabad weather department, Arunkumar Dasane, informed that there are chances of rain in isolated places. He said,

"Our forecast for tomorrow indicates light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas, particularly for Ahmedabad and nearby regions. The temperature in Ahmedabad is expected to be around 37 degrees, with a high likelihood of cloudy skies."

Ahmedabad was allotted the second qualifier match too, against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. And rain did not show them mercy. The match was delayed by 2 hours. Earlier it was Kolkata who was supposed to host both matches. And after a nine-day pause, when the league resumed again, the revised schedule dragged the matches to Ahmedabad. Ironically, the logic given was that there are rain threats in Kolkata. However, there were no signs of rain in the city.

What will happen if the match gets washed out?

Unlike the second qualifier, there is a reserve day for the final match. However, there has been an extra four-hour time slot given to host a 20-over-a-side match. But in case it gets washed out, the match will be played the next day.

Well,  has witnessed a washout earlier. In 2023, in the final match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, rain affected the final match. First of all, the match was actually scheduled on May 28. But the day got washed away without a single ball being bowled. And thereafter, in the reserve day, the match was cut short due to the rain appearing again the next day.
