The Karnataka government has issued an official order approving the appointment of 4,689 guest lecturers for government Pre-University (PU) colleges across the state for the academic year 2025–26.

The Department of Pre-University Education had earlier submitted a proposal to the government, requesting permission to recruit 5,752 guest lecturers to fill the vacancies in various PU colleges. The department also sought the release of grants for honorarium payments to the guest faculty.

Following a detailed review of the records and vacancy status across subject-wise clusters, the government has approved the recruitment of 4,689 guest lecturers, as per the official directive issued by the Under Secretary of the PU Department.

The move aims to ensure that teaching activities continue without disruption due to faculty shortages in the state-run PU colleges.
