The excitement is high for the much-anticipated IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). A viral image of T20 legend has added to the frenzy of the cash-rich league.

The former West Indies cricketer, who played for both franchises during his IPL career, was spotted wearing an RCB jersey while donning a traditional Punjabi turban, symbolically showing his support for both sides ahead of the grand finale on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Gayle was widely regarded as one of the most destructive batters in T20 history, scoring 4965 runs in his IPL career. He remains an iconic figure in the league and a fan favorite. He also won the Orange Cap in IPL 2011 (608 runs) and IPL 2012 (733 runs) for two consecutive seasons.

PBKS topped the points table with 19 points and will be up against RCB, who finished second with the same tally but a mildly inferior net run rate. The Rajat Patidar-led team put on a dominant performance against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 at Mullanpur, with outstanding bowling spells from Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma. They secured a comprehensive victory with 60 balls to spare and booked their place in the final after nine years.

PBKS bounced back strongly in Qualifier 2 in which they faced five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 1. Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a match-winning knock of 87* off just 41 balls and guiding his team into the IPL 2025 final after 11 years.

After 18 seasons, one of these two franchises will finally lift their maiden IPL trophy, which will mark a historic moment in the tournament’s legacy.
