The UK coast is home to a sprawling selection of beaches, from the rugged Cornish coast, to unspoiled stretches of sand on the , and the in . Whether you prefer something more laidback or want to tap into your adventurous side, there are plenty of shores to explore across the country, but one has been described as being like a "fairy tale".

In a series showcasing otherworldly places in the UK, the travel influencer @lotteboo3 shared a "magical" beach with her followers on that's only 90 minutes from . Located along the coast, home to seaside towns that some have even compared to being on the , this secluded beach is known for its "dramatic chalk stacks, golden sands and hidden sea caves."

In the video posted on TikTok, Lotte described Botany Bay as "one of the UK's most photogenic beaches". Tucked between the two popular seaside towns of Broadstairs and Margate, Botany Bay is the northernmost of seven bays in Broadstairs.

There's a catch, however, as the sea caves will only reveal themselves at low tide, meaning you have to time your visit right for a glimpse at them, so it's worth checking the timings for this before planning a trip down to Botany Bay.

The "magical" beach is also part of the Viking Coastal Trail, a route that goes along the Isle of Thanet in Kent and is known for its dramatic chalk cliffs, which Botany Bay is famed for.

The free-standing chalk stacks that "tower like castles" have appeared on the beach over time as a result of the erosion of the chalk cliffs, making it an ideal spot for exploring, with a number of rock pools also dotted along the shore.

Caves hidden in the chalk cliffs reveal themselves at low tide, with many carved by pirates and smugglers more than 300 years ago.

Awarded Blue Flag status in 2023, it's a popular swimming and surfing destination for visitors too, and the golden sands even featured in the BBC mini-series D-Day: The Last Heroes.

Lifeguards are on duty daily between the peak season starting in May until September, and there's a number of cafes, restaurants and the Captain Digby pub which offers an outside dining space with seaviews.

Botany Bay can be reached by walking along from Margate or Broadstairs, taking around 45 minutes when walking along the coast , or by simply hopping in a taxi from any of Kent's neabry Thanet towns.

If you're driving, Lotte shared that there's a small car park available at the Botany Bay Hotel, but this "fills up fast on sunny days".

You can also park at Kingsgate Bay or Joss Bay, which are located a 20 minute walk from the beach.
