A host of Brits have been imprisoned around the world, mostly due to drug-related accusations. Yesterday, it was reported that a young mother has been detained in for allegedly in her airport baggage from . Cameron Bradford, 21, from Knebworth in Hertfordshire, was taken into custody at Munich Airport on April 21 when she attempted to collect her luggage. She was reportedly initially planning to fly back to Heathrow via Singapore, but changed her plans, and this aroused suspicions from the authorities.
She could face as much as four months in prison while police investigate how the cannabis got there, sources suggest. Another case has seen Bella May Culley, 18, from Billingham in County Durham, arrested 4,000 miles away for suspected drug offences in Georgia, after allegedly carrying 14kg of cannabis into the country.
She is in custody and is facing the prospect of 15 years to life in prison.
Further, Charlotte Lee May, 21, from Coulsdon in south London, was detained in Colombo, Sri Lanka, after 46 kg of synthetic cannabis was discovered in her suitcase.
She is facing up to 25 years in prison, and insists that the substance was planted in her bag.
Meanwhile, a trial of three British nationals who are alleged to have been involved with smuggling cocaine disguised as packets of Angel Delight into Indonesia has begun.
Officials claim that Jon Collyer, 38, and Lisa Stocker, 39, from Hastings and St Leonards in East Sussex, were arrested at Bali's international airport in February after being caught with 994g of cocaine.
Phineas Float, 31, was allegedly meant to receive the packages. He was arrested a few days later.
Clara Wilson, 36, from Huthwaite in Nottinghamshire, has been charged with a drug running offence after more than 34 kilos of marijuana was discovered at Barcelona's El Prat airport in her two suitcases.
Last week, police in Spain said they had arrested a British couple, aged 33 and 34, who claimed to be tourists coming from Thailand, held at Valencia airport. 33 kilos of weed was found in their luggage. The duo was arrested late on May 5 and appeared in court the following day, after which they were remanded in prison.
