Harriet Cowan, a 24 year old farmer from Derbyshire, has unexpectedly stolen the spotlight in the latest series of Clarkson's Farm, despite her limited appearances. She temporarily filled in for Jeremy Clarkson's usual farming partner, Kaleb Cooper, while he was on tour, after being approached by Charlie Ireland, Jeremy's land agent, to feature on the Prime Video show.
Harriet's participation on Clarkson's Farm has garnered significant attention, however, she has now disclosed that a future return to the show is uncertain. In a pre-recorded BBC Breakfast interview, she mentioned: "We've always left it very open. I'm here if he needs me, but no plans at the minute. If he needs me, I'm here."
Working as a nurse by day, Harriet expressed her astonishment at the public's response to her appearance on Clarkson's Farm.
"I'm shocked because I didn't realise so many people are interested in me and what I do day to day. I've never really thought of it as anything exciting. It's just my little life," she stated. "I get up and farm, go to work, come back and farm. Even walking down the street and seeing people, they'll recognise us. It's absolutely crazy."
Harriet hopes to challenge common stereotypes about farmers and has no intention of abandoning farming, despite her newfound fame and hectic daily routine, reports .
The 24 year old conveyed her frustration, stating: "Just because I'm a small blonde who likes to curl her hair and wear make-up, and things like that, doesn't mean I can't be a farmer.
"For me, it's really important. I think, it's just changing that stereotype of being a farmer and what a farmer is. But, I'm definitely still going to farm, you're never getting me off this place!"
She revealed she hadn't watched Clarkson's Farm before agreeing to participate, yet was taken aback by how untroubled Jeremy was about this fact, which she found "amazing".
"He's just another farmer for me," she mentioned about the ex-Top Gear host, "A flat peak cap and checked shirt, and all that. Genuinely, that man just wants to achieve something with his farm."
BBC Breakfast airs at 6am on BBC One on weekdays. Clarkson's Farm is available to stream on Prime Video.
