Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in 2022, is known to have been unable to pronounce her name during her early years, instead referring to herself as Lilibet. The adorable nickname is said to have stuck, with the late monarch also called Lilibet by her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, her sister, Princess Margaret and husband Prince Philip.

With the name used by his late grandfather, who died just two months before 's birth, one expert has said that the name is a tribute to Philip.

As reported by Woman and Home, Diana, Princess of Wales's former vocal coach Stewart Peace previously explained: "There is no doubt that the influence Prince Philip had over his grandson will live on in the heart of Harry, in the sense of the complete allegiance Prince Philip's life created in alliance with the Queen, after the sudden death of her father the King, and her own accession to the throne."
