The Indian Automobile market, leading to creating a new identity in the Indian automobile market, is in full preparation to bring back its prestigious ‘Sierra’ SUV. According to recent reports and signs of the company, Tata Sierra can be launched on Indian roads within the next two financial years. This revelation has come when the company is working on a strategy to expand its all-wheel drive (AWD) portfolio in the country.
According to the schemes, Tata Sierra’s internal combustion engine (ICE) version (petrol/diesel) is expected to be launched by the end of the financial year 2025-26. Subsequently, its entire electric vehicle (EV) version can also come in the market by the financial year 2026-27. It is believed that Sierra’s petrol variant will come with a new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine, which was first displayed with the Sierra EV concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. This engine will be able to give 170 bhp power and torque of 280 Nm, which will prove to be quite strong on the road.
Apart from this, Tata Motors is also preparing to add AWD capacity to its other popular SUVs. Under the company’s ‘Beyond 2025’ strategy, Indian consumers can expect an all-wheel drive option in models like Tata Safari Ev, Tata Harrier Ev and even Tata Punch Ev. This move of the company is particularly focused on attracting customers who want vehicles with better tractions and off-roading capabilities.
This change will further strengthen the presence of Tata in the Indian auto market, especially at a time when there is continuous development in the SUV segment. The company has already shown a glimpse of future cars with its electric SUV concepts, such as Curvv and Avinya, but now the attention is also going to AWD and off-roading characteristics.
