Stalin's Praise for Kanimozhi

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, expressed his admiration for DMK MP Kanimozhi, who referred to 'unity in diversity' as the national language of India. Stalin shared his thoughts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

‘Unity In Diversity as India's National Language’

In his tweet, he stated, 'While in Spain, she confidently proclaimed, “India’s national language is #UnityInDiversity,” which resonated with the audience and turned into a widely shared moment. I extend my congratulations to @KanimozhiDMK MP for this!'

Stalin expressed pride in Kanimozhi, highlighting her use of Tamil, which he described as 'the language of love from Tamil Nadu,' representing India’s voice of unity.

Kanimozhi's Statement in Spain

During her address to the Indian community in Madrid on June 2, Kanimozhi emphasized, 'The national language of India is unity and diversity. This is the message our delegation conveys to the world, and it holds significant importance today.'

Controversy Surrounding Language Policies

Stalin's comments come amid ongoing debates regarding the three-language formula and disagreements with the central government over the National Education Policy.

Tamil Nadu Government's Legal Action

In May, the Tamil Nadu government approached the Supreme Court, alleging that the central government was withholding funds after the state opted not to adopt the New Education Policy, 2020.

The petition seeks the release of over 2000 crores under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, with the state requesting the Supreme Court to establish a timeline for the release and to recover the amount with a 6% annual interest on the principal.

Request for Unconstitutionality Declaration

Additionally, the Tamil Nadu government has asked the Supreme Court to declare the central government's actions regarding the withholding of funds under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme as 'unconstitutional, illegal, arbitrary, and unreasonable.'

Led by CM MK Stalin, the state government is also seeking a declaration that the National Educational Policy, 2020, and the PM SHRI Schools Scheme do not apply to Tamil Nadu.
