Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has taken an important decision for Medical Students of Delhi. The university has now decided to implement 1 year compulsory service for MBBS and PG students as per the instructions of Delhi Government. This means that after completing medical studies, students will have to provide service in Delhi government hospitals for one year.

To whom will this rule apply

The rules of Seva Bond all will apply to students of MBBS, PG, and Superspeciality Courses (MD/MS/DM/MCH) of All India and State Kota. All the students studying in government medical colleges and institutions of Delhi will come under this rule. This process will be monitored by a committee constituted under the chairmanship of the dean of Maulana Azad Medical College, and additional posts can also be constructed if required.

This service will be applicable in Government Medical College/ Hospitals –

1. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital, Rohini provided high quality medical services, which is an important health center for the residents of the region.

2. Uncle Nehru Children’s Hospital, Geeta Colony has special facilities for health care of children, which is a reliable option for parents.

3. Hindu Rao Hospital and North DMC Medical College, Malkaganj provide extensive medical services and education opportunity, which promotes excellence in the medical field.

In what form will you serve

Students of MBBS will serve as a junior resident, while PG students will provide their services as senior residents. All will be appointed in Delhi government hospitals and they will be paid salary as per the current pay scale.

What will be the bond amount

It will be mandatory for students to fill a service bond at the time of admission. For MBBS students, this bond will be worth Rs 15 lakh, while PG (MD/MS etc.) students will have to give a bond of Rs 20 lakh. If a student does not do compulsory service, then this amount will be confiscated.

State -wise rules

Karnataka has 1 year mandatory for rural service, which has a bond of Rs 15 lakh for MBBS and Rs 20 lakh for diploma.

In Himachal Pradesh, this period has been fixed at 2 years and the bond amount of Rs 40 lakh has been fixed.

In Uttarakhand too, 2 years of service is mandatory, but the bond amount here is 2.5 crores, which is the highest in the country.
