In Kankhajura, you and Roshan Mathew engage in a captivating jugalbandi?
Over time, I've come to understand that in a narrative featuring two actors, both must feel secure in their roles. If not, the dynamics can become complicated. Fortunately, my experience was positive. Roshan is confident in his abilities, which made our interactions in each scene feel natural. Our relationship is built on this foundation, and we've developed a bond that goes beyond just being co-actors.
Was it challenging to embody such a morally ambiguous character?
Kankhajura allowed me to portray Max, a character with significant depth. Our director, Chandan Arora, had a clear vision from the beginning regarding Max's layers; he has invested considerable time into this project, more than we actors have. I simply aligned myself with his vision.
What is your perspective on Max?
Max is driven, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, and he seizes every opportunity that comes his way. His determination knows no bounds.
Do you consider the OTT landscape a boon for actors like yourself?
The rise of OTT platforms has indeed been beneficial. The landscape has shifted dramatically in the past two years, with creators recognizing that mediocrity won't cut it anymore. Audiences are now more discerning and expect something unique.
Did you watch the original Israeli series Magpie?
I intentionally chose not to view the original series to avoid having preconceived notions. Sometimes, starting fresh is the best approach.
Was it difficult to detach from such a dark character?
After years of experience, transitioning out of a character is not overly challenging for me. A few breathing exercises and a quick glance at my phone usually do the trick.
Are you content with your career path so far?
I feel satisfied with my journey, but I believe there is still much more to explore, and I have plenty left to contribute.
What’s next for you?
My next project is a love story, and I hope to share more details about it soon.
