The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced a 14-men squad for the five-match Test series against India starting at the end of June. While Ben Stokes is back leading the squad, Jamie Overton makes a comeback in the whites.

Earlier, he represented England in only one Test match, that too three years back in 2023, against New Zealand. With Gus Atkinson becoming unavailable, Overton slides in to the squad. Notably, Atkinson is suffering from an injury at his right hamstring, which he suffered at Trent Bridge against Zimbabwe.

Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Craig Overton, and Josh Tongue have been named in the pace department, while Shoaib Bashir remains the only spinner in the squad. Jacob Bethell makes a comeback to the Test side after sitting out the one-off match against Zimbabwe last month.

The 14-player squad also includes the top order trio—Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope—all of whom scored centuries in the Zimbabwe Test. Jamie Smith is set to continue as the wicketkeeper, having performed the same role in the previous match.
