Ofcom has just released its latest report on home broadband and mobile services, and it makes for juicy reading. looks at satisfaction and customer service, giving shoppers the chance to see whether Sky is their best bet, or if they'd be happier with a broadband supplier like Plusnet.
According to Ofcom, tops the list of broadband suppliers with a 91% satisfaction rate from users. Previously it's also picked up awards in 2025 from the likes of Uswitch and Which? Shoppers looking to upgrade their home setup may want to consider adding the provider into the mix of providers the compare prices at.
Plusnet offers , there's no need for a landline, and the top speeds offered are 900Mbps. Best of all, on some packages, there are reward cards offering up £100 when you switch. However, despite ranking top in the latest 'comparing customer service' report, TrustPilot reviews aren't all glowing, where the provider has an overall 2 rating.
Out of 11,615 reviews, 1,500 users have rated Plusnet five stars, 77% of the total reviews on are rated 1-star. Plusnet is part of BT, so it sits alongside BT Broadband and EE Broadband, both of which come back with lower satisfaction levels in the Ofcom report. However, according to Ofcom's data the broadband provider with the lowest satisfaction, is TalkTalk.
A lot of users gave huge ratings for the providers customer service, which is in line with Ofcoms data, but did raise issues when it came to pricing. As one person said: "Customer service is great. They helped me out within 24 hours and I had an engineer visit booked for a few days later.
"The price for 1gbps is 36.99, however by the end of my contract it's going to be 42.99. It states this before signing up but why should a contract go up." Another person said: "Really consistent speeds and service, didn't have a single problem while I was with them for a year and a half.
"Unfortunately had to leave as they hiked up the initial price twice within a year, and it got too expensive to keep it installed."
TalkTalk offers full fibre from £26 a month and speeds up to 900Mbps, but the Ofcom report highlights complaint handling, reliability, speed and overall satisfaction as areas where TalkTalk is below average.
, a popular choice for its regular discounts and currently offering full fibre from £26 a month, coming in just below BT Broadband for satisfaction, but there's only 1% difference. Looking at the details, the survey reveals that Sky Broadband customers have a reason to complain, but then those complaints are well dealt with, with Sky scoring above average for complaint handling.
While TalkTalk sit at the bottom of , Virgin Media sit just above them, but there's little overall difference between those providers in the middle of the pack - EE, Vodafone, BT, Sky and Virgin Media are all close.
Looking at the prices currently, most services offer entry-level full fibre packages from around £26.
If customer satisfaction is what you're looking for, then Ofcom is clear: Plusnet is the provider to choose, and with competitive prices and a tempting reward card up to £100 (if you switch before 11 June), it could be that it's time to move your broadband.
Remember, that some broadband providers will pay for your termination fee to make switching easier, . While Plusnet doesn't offer this service, will cover up to £300 to pay for your termination fee if you're leaving your current supplier early.
