Ibiza, the famous Spanish island nestled in the Mediterranean, has long been a rite of passage for Brits seeking out its legendary nightlife.

UK holidaygoers swarm to every summer, but the steep prices of drinks are becoming an issue for many. The Balearic island isn't just about the clubbing scene, it's also a sanctuary for families and culture vultures eager to delve into its rich history.

With child-friendly and quiet villages, there's a slice of paradise for every type of traveller. Ibiza beckons sun worshippers with its abundance of beaches, but increasing numbers of tourists are concerned about the lofty costs of food and drink during their stay.

A post outlining the cost of and soft drinks at UNVRS, a major new nightclub on the island, has sparked conversation online. One flabbergasted user exclaimed: "18 euros for a f****** Heineken?"

Showcasing the venue's beverage list, the post revealed that a Heineken is marked up at 18 euros (£15.14) and Ladron De Manzanas at a steeper 19 euros (£15.98). Even water comes at a hefty cost.

Another perplexed Reddit user pointed out: "A place that packed should have water for free." The state-of-the-art UNVRS, which opened in Ibiza on May 30, offers an amphitheatre of sound with indoor and outdoor areas capable of hosting a staggering 10,000 party enthusiasts.

A third commentator chimed in: "VIP culture prices, f*** that. Pretty soon no one will be able to afford to go to Ibiza, it's coming."

Meanwhile a fourth commented: "I know it's how Ibiza works but I'll never understand charging 15 euros for water or a Coke Zero. You don't even get that at festivals. It's just plainly indefensible."

Someone else weighed in: "A lot of people are bringing something else in with them - which is why I've always guessed the prices for drinks are so high, including water."

However, amid the criticism, one person found a silver lining: "DomP is priced quite nice tbh (to be honest)." At the nightclub, the Dom Perignon Brut Glass is listed at 60 euros (£50.50), while its champagne companions, Moet and Chandon Brut and Moet and Chandon Rose, are tagged at 55 euros (£46.29) and 60 euros.

The venue's drinks menu boasts an array of spirits including vodka, gin, rum, whisky, bourbon, tequila, mezcal, and liqueurs, alongside wine, soft drinks, and a signature cocktail, Paloma by Patron, priced at 26 euros (£21.88).

Patrons have the option to indulge in a solo beverage, a mixer, a Red Bull-enhanced concoction, or a shot, with each choice reflecting a different price point. Hi Ibiza stands out as the island's top club and according to Club Bookers, a beer will cost you about 13 euros (£10.94) and cocktails start from over 18 euros (£15.15) per person.
