Phil Salt is not going to be a part of the T20I series squad to face the West Indies, as he has taken paternity leave to take care of his wife and newborn child. The 28-year-old flew to the United Kingdom after scoring his fastest IPL fifty in Qualifier 1 and attended the birth of his first child before returning to Ahmedabad to join RCB's squad just before the final.

In their statement, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed that the star batter has been granted permission to withdraw from the series. The statement confirmed that the English opener will spend his time away from the team to take care of his newborn child and spend time at home.

"Phil Salt is granted permission to withdraw from the squad for the series, which starts on Friday in Durham. Salt, who is taking time away on paternity leave following the birth of his child earlier this week, will now spend time at home," the ECB's statement claimed, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

I've got a lucky charm now: Salt

The star batter spoke about the entry of the new person into his life after winning the IPL title with RCB. Salt claimed it to be an unbelievable feeling and felt he could not explain it in words. The Englishman said he did not sleep enough and rested for just a few hours over a period of three days. The English batter believed his child brought him luck.

"It's an unbelievable feeling right now. I'll be honest with you, I don't quite know where I am at the moment. I've not had the most sleep, but I'm so proud of the boys. He did (bring luck). I've got a lucky charm now. I'm over the moon," said Salt after winning the IPL title with RCB.

Salt did not have a good time in ODIs earlier this year though. His poor form in the series against India and the Champions Trophy meant he was dropped from ODIs against the West Indies. But nevertheless, Salt played a key role in RCB's maiden IPL title win.
